The Myrtle Beach area officially kicks off the summer season with the annual Sun Fun Festival, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors. Highlights of the 2009 Sun Fun Festival include five days of live entertainment, celebrity meet and greets, arts & crafts, pageants, sporting events, beach games, hot air balloon and boat rides, kids fair, contests and more.

Sun Fun Festival Trivia: Towering 49.55 feet high, the "World's Tallest Sandcastle" was created at the Sun Fun Festival in 2007.
